The Brief
Mr Partridge contacted Crown Resin about his cracked concrete driveway.
Where the cracks had formed, weeds had started growing.
Combined, these made the driveway look old and untidy. We were contacted as Mr Partridge wanted a refreshed resin driveway.
What Did We Do?
Our process started with a consultation, where we assessed his current driveway and discussed materials and placement, as well as the installation process.
Having completed a site assessment, we decided that we would need to repair the concrete base using a crack-resistant membrane before laying a new resin driveway.
Part of the outdoor space we were working with was a patio, which Mr Partridge had expressed a desire to transform into the driveway to create a unified and extended driveway.
The first part of our installation was to lay chosen bricks along the edge of where the patio was to turn into the driveway and then lay the selected materials, Derbyshire aggregate and resin, over the patio section.
With this section done, we set about laying the crack-resistant membrane. While there was a large section of the concrete that was mostly cracked, we decided there was no need to lay the membrane across the whole of the driveway. Instead, we focused our efforts where the cracks were.
This meant that we put strips of membrane down where there were the most cracks, then simply followed each crack and joint with the membrane to seal them all.
From there, we were able to lay the rest of the resin driveway, which included resurfacing the step up to the front door.
Once the entire driveway had been resurfaced, we added the finishing touches of laying the bricked edge, creating a border around the driveway and separating the drive from the public path in front of the house.
Challenges Faced
Our team faced challenges with the weather when laying this driveway. We needed it to be dry to complete the work set out. However, throughout the project, we had rain. Therefore, we had to delay laying the resin.
We were able to communicate effectively with Mr Partridge, informing him as soon as possible that this stage would have to be put on hold and working with him to find a date to finish it. Of course, this was only an estimated date as it was guided by the weather forecast.
The Results
The result was a smart, new resin driveway edged with black block paving.
Additionally, the step matched the newly surfaced driveway, creating a unified and cohesive look across the area.
Despite the challenges presented by the weather, we left the client very happy with the results.
